Technical Sciences
The Department of Technical Sciences educates and train students to address human health. Our department promotes scientific perspectives in order to promote health and improve the lives of individuals and communities.
The department’s mission is accomplished by the unique transdisciplinary setting that incorporates academics, Clinical training and practice with wholistic preparation of the students for a wide range of career paths.
B.Sc Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology :
This course is intended to mould the students in a special compartment of the medical field. The speciality is Anaesthesiology as well as Operation Theatre complex. The student will be trained in the various structural and functional aspects of an Operation Theatre and practical aspects of Anaesthesiology. When graduated, the candidate will be a valuable member in the operation theatre team contributing to the smooth functioning of the specialty concerned. They are trained to assist the surgeons during the procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other functions as assigned.
The students are trained with the pharmacology of anesthetic & Non anesthetic drugs, their preparation, dilution and labeling. They are trained in preparing anesthesia trolleys, checking suction machines, gas system operation, working of OT tables, various gases used in OT,usage of inhalational agents etc..They assist with the administration & monitoring of anaesthesia and have extensive knowledge of anaesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies and technology.
B.Sc Cardiopulmonary Perfusion Care Technology
The primary aim is to academically and clinically prepare the students for professional practice.Cardiopulmonary perfusion technology is the science of providing extracorporeal circulation in order to artificially support and temporarily replace a patient’s respiratory and circulatory systems. The students are trained to conduct cardiopulmonary bypass using a heart-lung machine and other ancillary equipment. They closely monitor the patient’s blood flow and other vital signs during open heart surgery and also responsible for administering intravenous fluids, blood products & anesthetic drugs. They are also trained to operate life support devices such as ventricular assist devices & Aortic balloon pumps.
